About the position

The Marketing & Events Coordinator at Stride, Inc. plays a crucial role in promoting effective communication practices among parents, teachers, and support staff within a well-established virtual education environment. This position is integral to the success of various in-person school events, requiring the Coordinator to manage multiple aspects of event planning. Responsibilities include identifying suitable venues and vendors, maintaining communication with these vendors throughout the planning process, and ensuring that all necessary supplies and decorations are procured. The Coordinator will work closely with staff to guarantee the successful execution of events, which are designed to engage students and families in the educational process. In addition to event management, the Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining a range of engaging external communications. This includes creating content for social media platforms, newsletters, school announcements, and event flyers. The role also involves maintaining the school’s website, ensuring that it is updated and organized to reflect current information and events. The Coordinator will collaborate with school leaders and Stride/K12 to identify opportunities for marketing content that resonates with the school community. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage project budgets effectively. The Coordinator will negotiate with vendors and establish relationships to ensure that events are executed smoothly and within budget. This role also involves coordinating logistics for monthly student outings and special events, working closely with Engagement Specialists to enhance the overall experience for students and families. The Marketing & Events Coordinator serves as a liaison for third-party marketing efforts, ensuring that all communications align with the school’s mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Promote effective communication practices between parents, teachers, and support staff.
  • Oversee tasks throughout the event planning process.
  • Manage project logistics for in-person school events, including venue and vendor identification.
  • Communicate with vendors throughout the planning process.
  • Run errands for supplies and decorations as needed.
  • Work with staff to ensure successful event completion.
  • Develop and maintain engaging external communications, including social media posts and newsletters.
  • Write, edit, and design content for internal communications such as newsletters and emails.
  • Maintain school websites, making updates and design changes as necessary.
  • Coordinate facilities, lodging, food and beverage, travel, and entertainment for events.
  • Monitor event budgets in collaboration with Finance.
  • Negotiate with vendors and establish relationships for repeat business.
  • Coordinate arrangements with vendors and site logistics as needed.
  • Execute planned monthly outings for students and families in collaboration with Engagement Specialists.
  • Serve as school-level liaison for third-party marketing efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Strong background in social media content creation for an organization.
  • Prior experience creating print and digital collateral for an organization.
  • Experience planning corporate events.
  • Experience using Canva, Adobe Express, or other content creation software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees and vendors.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative to identify content opportunities in a virtual setting.
  • All clearances and background checks as required to work in a South Carolina public school.
  • Ability to travel, sometimes overnight, to attend school events and meetings/conferences (up to 15%).

Nice-to-haves

  • Event planner/event management certification.
  • Experience planning events and marketing content for an entity in the education sector.
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator.
