About the position

The Marketing and Public Relations Director at Iliff School of Theology is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing and public relations strategies to enhance the visibility of the institution's programs on both national and international levels. This role involves drafting and editing communications across various channels, managing media relations, and supervising a team within the Office of Media and Marketing. The position requires a deep understanding of higher education and the unique ethos of Iliff, along with the ability to inspire and lead a team while managing day-to-day promotional projects and long-term strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Iliff's marketing strategy for earned, paid, shared, and owned media.
  • Lead public relations activities by establishing positive media contacts and effective communication methods.
  • Engage and manage media relationships to ensure coverage of Iliff events and programs.
  • Pitch Iliff stories and experts to media to advance the brand.
  • Oversee advertising, marketing efforts, and social media presence.
  • Develop and monitor institutional standards for communications and media interactions.
  • Direct the development and maintenance of Iliff's website in collaboration with IT staff.
  • Provide editorial oversight and content for Iliff publications.
  • Act as primary liaison to media outlets during ordinary and crisis periods.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Office of Media and Marketing, including budgeting and staff supervision.
  • Identify and manage all creators and vendors related to marketing and communications.
  • Assess the success of marketing initiatives with metrics-driven tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, English or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in publications, news media, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of marketing and communication theories and techniques.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and WordPress or other Content Management Software.
  • Basic understanding of print, website, and graphic design.
  • Hands-on experience with SEO and web traffic metrics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Google Analytics.
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations.
  • Understanding of web publishing requirements including ADA compliance.
