About the position

The Marketing and Public Relations Specialist will be responsible for managing and enhancing the company's image and reputation through strategic communication plans, media relations, and relationship building with partners. This role involves developing PR strategies, coordinating events, and handling crisis communications to promote the Timber Products Manufacturers Association (TPM) brand effectively.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute PR strategies and campaigns to promote TPM's brand, products, and services.
• Build and maintain relationships with media contacts, influencers, and industry professionals.
• Write and distribute press releases, media kits, and other promotional materials.
• Monitor media coverage and public sentiment to assess the effectiveness of PR efforts.
• Coordinate and manage events, including annual meetings, trade shows, and the annual golf scholarship event.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with company goals.
• Handle crisis communication and manage any negative publicity effectively.
• Meet with preferred broker firms to review services and build relationships on an annual basis.
• Develop and promote the TPM Brand by sharing the story of TPM.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in public relations, communications, or a similar role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft engaging and persuasive content.
• Proven experience in media relations and building relationships with journalists and influencers.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in PR tools and software.
• A proactive and creative mindset with a passion for storytelling.
• Must be willing to travel 50% of the time.
