About the position

The Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator at the YMCA of Central New Mexico is responsible for supporting the organization's marketing efforts and managing volunteer operations. This part-time role involves collaborating with leadership staff to enhance community engagement through effective marketing strategies, volunteer management, and event planning, all while ensuring a professional and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing and tracking new and returning volunteers using Volunteer Matters software.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to volunteers, including training and background checks.
  • Assist in entering interview data into Volunteer Matters.
  • Support the Sports Director in assigning Volunteer Coaches to teams.
  • Design and produce marketing materials such as flyers, posters, and newsletters.
  • Ensure that building flyer racks and digital signage are up to date.
  • Implement and maintain a strong social media program with daily activity.
  • Enhance the local Y brand through social media and video production.
  • Manage email campaigns and maintain the email database.
  • Update the Y website with current information weekly.
  • Develop effective working relationships with leadership staff for program marketing needs.
  • Maintain the Constant Contact email program and ensure adherence to YMCA branding standards.
  • Assist with event coordination and planning, including communication and record keeping.
  • Support event guest communication before, during, and after events.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to actively listen and take accurate notes.
  • Experience with Microsoft, Adobe Photoshop, and Canva design software.
  • Cash handling skills and ability to reconcile shift transactions.
  • Familiarity with the mission statement and core values of the YMCA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in video production and editing.
  • Knowledge of Facebook Advertising and WordPress.
