About the position

The role's purpose is to serve as a marketing generalist supporting and learning from the marketing team, with a specific focus on content development and event management. This person will help the marketing team stay organized and connected internally while also increasing our capacity to scale marketing efforts. Examples of key impacts would include expanding Canoe's brand awareness through effective social media strategies and increasing Canoe's market penetration by supporting execution of sponsored or Canoe-hosted events. The impact of this role is far-reaching in contributing to increasing our brand awareness and product familiarity, while also amplifying lead generation and conversion efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Organizing marketing operations: Keeping marketing calendars up to date and building up relevant action items/workflows to support task execution and reporting across the marketing team.
  • Coordinating content creation: Liaising with our PR firm and internal stakeholders to maintain PR and award calendars and execute on these opportunities; researching, pitching, and developing new content for Canoe.
  • Supporting content distribution: Drafting social media content and images for paid and organic campaigns; driving social media content creation and publication for Canoe's employee advocacy program.
  • Managing digital and in-person event logistics: Preparing, tracking, and following up on the logistics of all sponsored and hosted events.
  • Supporting website management and optimization: Supporting website optimization efforts, reviewing new page mockups against Wordpress toolkit, drafting new copy or images to optimize page content.
  • Owning broader monthly marketing initiatives: Managing monthly initiatives, including the marketing newsletter, social media content series, and month-end marketing impact reporting.
  • Collaboration: Liaising closely with the marketing, business development, sales, relationship management, and product teams on a regular basis.
  • Tech stack: Frequently using the marketing team's core toolset, including Hubspot, Canva, Oktopost, Salesforce, Slack, BrandLive, Zoom, Google Suite, Wordpress, LinkedIn, Confluence, and project management software.

Requirements

  • Early career: near entry-level but not their first marketing role. 2-4 years would be ideal, in a PR or marketing role.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in writing and editing exercises.
  • Excellent organization skills, resourceful nature, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong eye for design and attention to detail.
  • Need to be based in tri-state area and able to travel on occasion to come into the office and support in-person conferences.
  • Some finance, financial services or tech experience whether by internship, course work or previous work experience.
  • Some type of event management experience, whether by previous role, internship, or college club experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using marketing automation tools, specifically Hubspot.
  • Experience working with media relations and PR agencies.
  • Experience using design platforms, specifically Canva.
  • Experience using LinkedIn from the corporate side.
  • Familiarity with project management software or demonstrated examples of organizing work.
