About the position

McClatchy Media seeks a Marketing Campaign Coordinator to join our growing Commerce team. This role will primarily focus on internal campaign execution and optimization to drive department performance and maximize profits. Using a data-driven approach, the ideal candidate has expertise in launching, tracking, and refining affiliate marketing promotional campaigns on third-party platforms (Meta, Google, Apple News, etc.). In this role, you will analyze performance metrics, implement testing strategies, and continuously optimize affiliate efforts to improve ROI. This role is for you if you excel at enhancing affiliate programs, managing high-impact promotional campaigns, fine-tuning performance strategies, and using analytics and technology tools to increase return on spend and deliver continued growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and optimize daily affiliate marketing promotions, ensuring seamless implementation across multiple affiliate programs and promotional platforms, including but not limited to Meta, Apple News, and email.
  • Monitor real-time performance metrics (CTR, CPC, ROI, ROAS, CVR) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with business development, editorial, and design teams to run continually high-converting campaigns.
  • Conduct A/B testing and regularly refine messaging, targeting, and promotional strategies to improve engagement and conversion rates.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to align affiliate promotions with tentpole marketing events.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement strategies to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with brand guidelines, affiliate policies, and industry regulations.
  • Advise on allocating and adjusting budgets across campaigns and affiliates based on performance data.
  • Customize campaign approaches for different affiliate segments (influencers, editorial, etc.)
  • Suggest and implement cost-control measures to improve ROAS and CPC metrics.
  • Identify low-performing campaigns and affiliates and develop strategies to improve their contribution.
  • Leverage automation tools to streamline promotional execution and reporting.
  • Work with AI-driven tools and predictive analytics to enhance promotional decision-making.
  • Use technology to optimize for cohorts and other segment marketing for specific campaigns.
  • Utilize tracking tools (affiliate tracking services, affiliate dashboards, BI tools) to measure campaign success.
  • Use data-driven insights to adjust strategies and improve overall internal campaign effectiveness.
  • Act as POC for affiliate paid marketing: Oversee and advise on ROAS best practices and projections on affiliate campaigns for paid partners.
  • Contribute insights to detailed reports on campaign performance, partner contributions, and ROI and internal KPIs.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership for continuous growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in affiliate marketing, performance marketing, or digital advertising. Experience in campaign execution and optimization required.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in campaign tracking, data interpretation, and reporting.
  • Experience with optimizing social boosting on Meta required.
  • Proficiency in Excel, and experience with affiliate tracking platforms (Impact, CJ Affiliate, Rakuten, PartnerStack, ShareASale).
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple campaigns simultaneously.
  • Up to date knowledge of the ins and outs of paid media, AI tools, digital marketing strategies, and digital publishing.
