About the position

The Marketing & Communications Assistant position at First Book is a temporary role focused on supporting the organization's mission to provide educational resources to children in need. Responsibilities

  • Assist in writing and copyediting content, creating original pieces and updating existing materials.
  • Create social media content, including writing posts and designing images and videos.
  • Design graphics using Canva and manage content on WordPress.
  • Utilize basic HTML skills and knowledge of SEO best practices to enhance online content.
  • Synthesize and paraphrase findings into compelling stories for various platforms.
  • Support partnership initiatives with companies like LEGO and Build-A-Bear Workshop.
  • Create and edit videos to showcase the impact of First Book's work.
  • Manage the digital media library and ensure consistent updates across all platforms.

Requirements

  • Strong writing and copyediting skills.
  • Experience in social media content creation and management.
  • Proficiency in Canva for graphic design.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and basic HTML.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices is preferred.
