About the position

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator / Executive Assistant position at Betty Andrews Media is a part-time role that combines executive assistance to the CEO with marketing and communications responsibilities. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting business, nonprofit, and community organizations, with a focus on arts, culture, diversity, civil rights, and social justice. The position is temporary with the potential to transition into a permanent role, averaging 20-25 hours per week in a dynamic office environment in Des Moines, IA.

Responsibilities

  • Keep Director's schedule, setting appointments, and coordinating speaking engagements.
  • Organize meetings and various activities, including note-taking.
  • Interact with clients, including intake and outreach.
  • Maintain office organization, including filing, clerical duties, and answering phones and emails.
  • Handle deliveries and pick-ups, which may include travel (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Conduct various research projects as needed.
  • Be prepared to work in all areas of the business, often taking the lead.
  • Manage project coordination and update client information.
  • Create and manage various marketing products and strategies.
  • Manage social media presence, providing relevant and timely content.
  • Support branding efforts for various entities and curate stories to enhance media interactions.
  • Assist with event management, promotion, and publicity.
  • Strengthen interaction and engagement on company websites.

Requirements

  • Desire to work with business and nonprofit development, arts and culture, diversity, civil rights, and social justice.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills, people skills, and time management abilities.
  • Robust computer and web literacy, including proficiency in email and social media platforms.
  • Comfortable working with a diverse range of individuals, including politicians, funders, media, and community members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to maintain confidentiality.
