About the position

The Marketing Communications Copywriter at Boot Barn is responsible for enhancing the brand's presence through effective written communication. This role involves collaborating with various teams to produce high-quality content for both internal and external audiences, including press releases, blog posts, marketing materials, and social media. The position aims to convey the company's vision, mission, and values while supporting operational and PR efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Write high-quality public relations content, including long-form blog posts and editorials.
  • Compose copy for all grand opening marketing assets, including radio scripts and digital ads.
  • Write copy for store signage, including promotional and product signage.
  • Craft customer-facing messaging for sponsored events and third-party communications.
  • Provide copy to media and ecommerce teams for media buys and advertising.
  • Support talent acquisition with recruitment asset copy.
  • Identify communication needs for operational and PR efforts.
  • Create and maintain a library of deliverables and communication calendars.
  • Support external communication efforts through strategic initiatives.
  • Craft internal communications, including executive messaging and HR newsletters.
  • Establish communication goals and metrics to evaluate success.
  • Create messaging for media outreach as needed.
  • Proofread and edit content for accuracy and style.
  • Protect the Boot Barn brand and copy standards.
  • Prepare communications that meet defined goals and incorporate feedback.
  • Partner with the creative copywriter for social media and campaign copy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 2 years in a marketing position and/or 1 year in a communications role.
  • Writing experience across multiple channels: press releases, websites, email, social media, print, etc.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in copywriting.
  • Strategic, detail-oriented, and skilled at building team relationships.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of basic communications tactics and best practices.
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of Boot Barn's messaging and brand voice.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in retail marketing communications.
  • Familiarity with SEO and SEM best practices.
  • Experience in crafting internal communications.
