About the position

The Marketing & Communications Director (M&CD) at California CASA Association will lead the development and implementation of inclusive marketing strategies aimed at raising awareness of the needs of children and youth in foster care. This role is pivotal in expanding fundraising efforts and ensuring that the organization's mission resonates with diverse communities across California. The M&CD will oversee statewide communication initiatives, manage brand integrity, and foster partnerships to amplify the impact of CASA's work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual Marketing Plan that expands CA CASA's reach and impact.
  • Create and execute outreach strategies to highlight CA CASA's mission and the needs of children in foster care.
  • Support the recruitment of CASA volunteers from diverse backgrounds and drive fundraising efforts.
  • Safeguard and enhance CA CASA's brand to reflect its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to a team including a Graphic Designer/Marketing Assistant.
  • Identify and foster partnerships with marketing agencies and media entities for community-centered storytelling.
  • Manage statewide marketing campaigns to attract a diverse pool of CASA volunteers.
  • Oversee the creation of marketing collateral and manage online content that is culturally inclusive and accessible.
  • Provide expertise and resources to local CASA programs to enhance their marketing and communications capacity.
  • Manage CA CASA's public relations efforts, integrating DEI values in all media engagements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, PR, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Proven experience supervising consultants and staff and managing complex projects.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Squarespace.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and support a diverse team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in corporate marketing or at a marketing/PR firm.
  • Proven experience in developing culturally responsive marketing campaigns.
