About the position

The Marketing & Communications Director at Heart of Florida United Way is responsible for directing the strategic planning, execution, and implementation of the organization's integrated marketing plan. This hybrid role involves managing the marketing and communications team, overseeing content creation, and ensuring effective communication across various channels to enhance the organization's visibility and engagement. The Director will also lead the development of marketing campaigns, analyze performance metrics, and maintain brand consistency across all platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct day-to-day oversight over the marketing & communications team.
  • Research, develop, and implement innovative omnichannel content calendars and communication plans.
  • Contribute to the ideation and implementation of integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Track, monitor, and analyze social, web, email, and media analytics.
  • Review and prioritize all Marketing Work Orders from internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee the production of collateral materials and organization publications.
  • Monitor and submit for speaking engagements and visibility opportunities.
  • Oversee media relations and prepare HFUW spokespeople for interviews.
  • Manage pro-bono media advertising relationships.
  • Partner with Events and Experiences teams to support HFUW-branded events.
  • Ensure consistent use of approved brand identity guidelines.
  • Lead storytelling and message development for HFUW.
  • Manage written content development across various platforms.
  • Follow news stories and social media trends to connect with HFUW's work.
  • Capture and draft profile stories based on interviews.
  • Champion HFUW's digital content strategy and manage social media channels.
  • Build a pipeline of qualified leads for prospective volunteers and donors.
  • Lead the maintenance of the website for optimized content and user experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or similar required.
  • Minimum of five years direct experience in managing marketing and communications strategy/projects.
  • Minimum of three years of prior experience leading a team in a marketing, public relations or communications field.
  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills are required.
  • Experience in developing integrated communication and marketing plans.
  • Experience in developing and editing content across various platforms.
  • Excellent understanding of social media engagement and content development.
  • Strong public speaking skills and ability to write clearly for presentations and marketing copy.
  • Knowledge of AP style, public relations writing and media relations skills.
  • Project management experience and self-motivated with excellent planning skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Desktop publishing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong local network of vendors for partnership opportunities.
  • Strong local, regional and national network of media contacts.
