About the position

The Marketing & Communications Director at Fresno BHC plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the organization's marketing and communications strategy. Reporting directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer, this full-time, exempt position is responsible for developing a long-term vision that aligns with Fresno BHC's mission and enhances its unique position within the public health and social justice sectors. The director will oversee all marketing strategies and communications, ensuring that both internal and external messaging effectively promotes the organization's goals and values. In this role, the director will create, implement, and measure a comprehensive marketing and communications program designed to elevate Fresno BHC's image and facilitate effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders. This includes managing the strategic and creative design of marketing materials, ensuring consistency in branding, and overseeing the production and distribution of publications. The director will also coordinate media relations, ensuring regular contact with target media and responding to inquiries in a timely manner. The Marketing & Communications Director will lead a team that currently includes a Communications Specialist and a Multimedia Design Specialist, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of marketing initiatives. Additionally, the director will be responsible for conducting market research, monitoring trends, and leading special projects such as events and campaign development. This position requires a proactive approach to achieving marketing and communications goals, with a focus on financial objectives and performance evaluation. The director will also be tasked with developing and managing budgets for the marketing and communications department, ensuring adherence to organizational goals and objectives. Staying informed of developments in the field, the director will bring innovative ideas to the organization and support the President and CEO in public affairs and marketing activities. Flexibility in working hours is essential, as some meetings and program activities may occur outside of normal office hours, including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee internal and external communication plans, media strategies, marketing, and public affairs.
  • Create, implement, and measure the success of a comprehensive marketing and communications program.
  • Manage the strategic and creative design of marketing and communications activities and materials.
  • Manage the Marketing and Communications staff, including a Communications Specialist and a Multimedia Design Specialist.
  • Ensure consistent communication of Fresno BHC's desired image and position throughout the organization.
  • Responsible for editorial direction, design, production, and distribution of all publications.
  • Coordinate media interest in the organization and ensure regular contact with target media.
  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee programs and resource materials to assist partners in their marketing and communications activities.
  • Conduct relevant market research and monitor trends.
  • Lead special projects such as events and campaign development.
  • Responsible for achieving marketing and communications goals and financial objectives.
  • Develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing and communications department.
  • Monitor progress and evaluate performance of marketing activities.
  • Support the President and CEO, Board members, and others in public affairs matters.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic perspective based on marketplace and constituent needs.
  • Administer policies to ensure the organization's integrity.
  • Manage and oversee contracted communications and marketing consultants and vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a job-related area from an accredited college or university.
  • At least five years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in advanced marketing and communications activities.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets, hiring, training, and supervising staff.
  • Ability to meet responsibilities and deadlines regularly with high-quality standards.
  • Valid California Driver's License and verifiable automobile insurance.
  • Ability to pass background checks including LiveScan fingerprinting.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
