About the position

The Marketing & Community Relations Manager at Dr. Black's Eye Associates is responsible for the development, maintenance, and growth of the practice. This role involves coordinating and implementing outreach programs, serving as a patient advocate, and representing the practice's best interests in a professional manner. The manager will also be tasked with fostering relationships with referring providers and ensuring effective communication and follow-up with them.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, budget, organize, and manage the outreach department.
  • Establish and foster relationships with optometric and other referring providers.
  • Maintain protocols for visiting a minimum of six existing referring providers and two prospects per week.
  • Coordinate continuing education functions for practice referral sources.
  • Provide ongoing educational support tools to referring providers regarding reimbursement and compliance.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure proper communication with referring providers.
  • Communicate regularly with referring providers who co-manage patients with the practice.
  • Ensure compliance of co-management forms and meet expectations of co-managing doctors.
  • Regularly communicate with the executive committee and medical director with written status reports.
  • Maintain a database with information regarding referral sources and patterns.
  • Prepare a yearly calendar of events for referring providers.
  • Coordinate and implement patient outreach programs, including vision and eye pressure screenings.
  • Operate screening equipment and arrange participation in community health programs.
  • Develop events and seminars in accordance with the marketing plan.
  • Oversee community, public, and media relations.
  • Consult with the executive committee on marketing campaigns and develop promotional materials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience in communications, marketing, business or related fields preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience with community outreach activities preferred.
  • 1+ years as a physician liaison preferred.
  • Previous experience working with an ophthalmic/optometric practice preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in managing marketing campaigns preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to write reports and business correspondence.

  • Knowledge of basic marketing platforms.
  • Ability to track practice growth and progress of various initiatives.
