About the position

The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz is seeking a Marketing Content Coordinator to join the Office of Communication & Marketing team. This position plays a crucial role in the university's marketing initiatives, which encompass a wide range of programs including undergraduate and graduate degrees, microcredentials, professional programs, and various cultural and academic events. The Marketing Content Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Marketing and will be involved in planning, creating, publishing, and assessing promotional campaigns that align with the university's diverse strategic marketing goals and initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of how to effectively connect with various audiences across multiple channels. They will be adept at attracting attention in a competitive marketing landscape and implementing conversion strategies that enhance awareness, recruitment, and the overall reputation of SUNY New Paltz. Responsibilities include composing engaging email marketing communications, utilizing the Slate CRM to tailor campaigns for specific audience segments, and developing content that guides potential students through the customer journey—from initial awareness to enrollment. Additionally, the Marketing Content Coordinator will coordinate high-quality writing, photography, and videography to support marketing campaigns across digital platforms such as Meta, Google/YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok, as well as traditional media like print and radio. The role also involves analyzing key performance indicators for both digital and traditional marketing efforts, contributing to a feedback loop that informs future strategies, and ensuring all publications adhere to established brand and style standards. Collaboration with students, faculty, and staff across the campus is essential to support their marketing initiatives while maintaining consistent messaging and branding.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and compose attractive email marketing communications to support varied strategic goals using tools including the Slate CRM and the Emma digital marketing platform.
  • Harness the Slate CRM to tailor communications and campaigns for strategically defined audience segments.
  • Assist in developing content and strategy for all phases of the customer journey, from awareness emails and newsletters to landing pages with clearly emphasized calls to action.
  • Coordinate high-quality writing, photography, and videography to support marketing campaigns on digital platforms including Meta, Google/YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, and others, and traditional media including print, radio, and outdoor display.
  • Contribute audience-appropriate writing and design concepts for web and print publications.
  • Analyze and assess key performance indicators for digital and traditional marketing campaigns, and contribute to a feedback loop wherein measurement of key performance indicators informs future strategies.
  • Work as part of an editorial marketing team to ensure accuracy, proper formatting, and alignment with established brand and style standards for all publications.
  • Share ideas with teammates at editorial content meetings.
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff across the campus to support their own marketing initiatives and communication goals, while ensuring that messaging, positioning, and branding is consistent across all assigned projects.
  • Keep current on best practices and trends through market research and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain and update creative and technical skills to build knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulations in the field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, public relations, English, journalism, or a related field.
  • Two years or more of experience in marketing, communications, content creation, and/or a related field.
  • Fluency in digital content standards, trends, and audience expectations across email, web, and social media.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofing skills, and the ability to enhance written communication using visual media.
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends as assigned.
  • Ability to travel to and from the SUNY New Paltz campus.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with the higher education landscape and unique challenges and opportunities within the industry.
  • Understanding of best practices in search engine marketing and search engine optimization.
  • Experience with Slate or a similar Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.
  • Ability to use digital analytics dashboards to generate reports and draw actionable insights.
  • Facility with graphic design tools (Adobe, Canva, etc.).
  • Project management and organizational skills.
