About the position

The Marketing & Content Manager at Johns Hopkins University plays a crucial role in the Office of Annual Giving, overseeing a team responsible for creating and executing integrated multi-channel solicitation campaigns. This senior management position requires strategic leadership and collaboration with various university partners to enhance fundraising efforts and strengthen relationships with donors and alumni.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 4 direct reports and 2 indirect reports responsible for content creation, production, project management, and execution of integrated solicitation campaigns.
  • Set a comprehensive solicitation strategy for each channel, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and tracking campaign results.
  • Empower the Associate Director, Project Manager to oversee day-to-day project progress and decisions.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance for emerging managers on the marketing team.
  • Lead strategy and implementation for key university priorities, including the 150th anniversary celebration and capital projects.
  • Partner with OAG unit liaisons to design solicitation campaigns that achieve individual unit goals.
  • Create and maintain results reports for OAG and DAR leadership, highlighting key metrics across channels.
  • Assess the feasibility of ad hoc campaigns suggested by partners throughout the year.
  • Develop OAG identity by ensuring annual solicitations align with the university's tone and messaging.
  • Lead and manage institutional-wide solicitation initiatives and campaigns.
  • Build relationships with communications colleagues in DAR and central JHU communications.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyze OAG direct marketing budget, including ROI of solicitations.
  • Regularly evaluate OAG's content, messaging, and SOPs to ensure adoption of best practices.
  • Partner with the Head of OAG to grow the team and ensure career opportunities for team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Five years of related experience in direct marketing and/or fundraising, preferably in annual giving and integrated marketing campaigns.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least one year of management experience.
  • Experience in a complex, multi-divisional, results-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with higher education annual giving and alumni participation strategies.
  • Experience in higher education, non-profit organizations, product marketing, business development, or management consulting.
