About the position

We are looking for an enthusiastic Marketing Coordinator to join our Hornet Hospitality team at Sacramento State. The Marketing Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting key business initiatives, such as meal plan sales, social media management, and consumer engagement. In this position, you will be responsible for implementing and executing marketing programs that drive business growth, enhance consumer satisfaction, and support client retention. This position reports directly to the Marketing Manager and works closely with various departments to ensure each event has a well-structured marketing campaign. The Marketing Coordinator will plan and execute meal plan sales tabling events and activities around campus to drive revenue. You will measure the effectiveness and sales data for each initiative to help develop action plans that further strengthen our dining program. Additionally, you will manage marketing student interns, which includes hiring, training, and day-to-day management. Creating, coordinating, and executing the events calendar in collaboration with the operations team and other marketing team members to engage students is also a key responsibility. Collaboration with team members to design needed promotional materials such as brochures, posters, signage, and flyers for events or operational needs is essential. You will maintain all social media platforms, including developing and executing innovative content, and produce high-quality photos and videos to create captivating content that drives brand awareness and engages audiences, capitalizing on promotions and events. Furthermore, managing website content, enhancements, and further development will be part of your duties. Working with the Marketing Manager to identify new marketing opportunities by category, recommending actions, planning projects, estimating costs, and managing projects to completion is crucial. You will also assist in the ongoing development of marketing reports for all stakeholders and support the planning of an annual marketing plan with strategies and tactics to refine and enhance focus categories and proprietary brands to drive continuous improvement and innovation. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in advertising, communications, marketing, business or relevant field
  • At least 1-2 years of event planning or marketing experience supporting public events
  • Outstanding knowledge and skills of all social media, experience with Emplifi a plus
  • Excellent graphic design and video editing skills, experience with Canva a plus
  • Ability to balance multiple projects while meeting demanding deadlines, producing high quality work and projecting a positive attitude
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and follow directions effectively
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to cover events during nights and weekends as needed
