About the position

The Marketing Coordinator/Graphic Designer at the University of Chicago will oversee graphic design, photographic and video documentation, website content creation, and eblasts for the Theater and Performance Studies department. This part-time role involves managing marketing activities for approximately 35 productions per year and supervising part-time student administrative staff. The position requires collaboration with internal and external partners to enhance marketing efforts and ensure alignment with the TAPS brand.

Responsibilities

  • Creates visual concepts to communicate ideas that inspire and inform audiences.
  • Develops layout and production design for marketing materials such as posters, brochures, and social media content.
  • Oversees documentation of TAPS curricular and co-curricular programming.
  • Researches and schedules photographers and videographers for promotional purposes.
  • Manages communications and negotiations with vendors for printed materials.
  • Coordinates communication plans with internal and external partners.
  • Writes marketing content including eblasts, press releases, and social media copy.
  • Develops resources and announcements for distribution on various platforms.
  • Creates workflow for managing image assets and identifies areas for improvement.
  • Assists in supervising part-time student administrative staff.
  • Attends meetings, rehearsals, and workshops.
  • Monitors and reports on sales and circulation activity, conducting market research and developing strategies.
  • May train lower-level marketing staff.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum college or university degree in a related field.
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in theatre, marketing, or public relations.
  • Two years of post-undergraduate professional communications, public relations, or marketing experience.
  • Proficiency in Mac and PC environments.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and online organizational tools.
  • Proficiency with Mailchimp, Adobe, and InDesign software.
