About the position

The Marketing Coordinator/Graphic Designer for the Theater and Performance Studies (TAPS) at the University of Chicago is responsible for overseeing graphic design, photographic and video documentation, website content creation, and eblasts for approximately 35 productions per year. This part-time position involves supervising student administrative staff and serving as the primary liaison for marketing support and design with the Logan Center for the Arts.

Responsibilities

  • Creates visual concepts to communicate ideas that inspire and inform audiences.
  • Develops layout and production design for marketing materials such as posters, brochures, and social media content.
  • Acquires input and approval for marketing materials from internal managers and project leads.
  • Oversees documentation of TAPS curricular and co-curricular programming.
  • Researches and schedules photographers and videographers for promotional purposes.
  • Manages communications and negotiations with vendors, ensuring materials meet brand standards.
  • Writes marketing content including eblasts, press releases, and social media copy.
  • Coordinates development of resources for distribution on various platforms including the website and social media.
  • Creates workflow for managing image assets and identifies areas for improvement in existing processes.
  • Assists in supervising part-time student administrative staff.
  • Attends meetings, rehearsals, and workshops as needed.
  • Monitors and reports on sales and circulation activity.
  • Conducts market research and develops marketing strategies based on findings.

Requirements

  • Minimum college or university degree in a related field.
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in theatre, marketing, or public relations.
  • Two years of post-undergraduate professional communications, public relations, or marketing experience.
  • Proficiency in Mac and PC environments.
  • Proficiency with Mailchimp, Adobe, and InDesign software.
