About the position

The Marketing Coordinator role at Van Wagner's College Division is essential for supporting collegiate institutions, events, and conference partners. This entry-level position is designed for entrepreneurial self-starters who are team-oriented and eager to tackle challenges in the sports marketing field. The role offers a unique opportunity to build relationships with local businesses and the athletics department while contributing to the growth of partnerships and marketing initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with local and regional businesses, the campus community, and the athletics department.
  • Work with existing sponsor businesses to grow and extend their partnerships with the school or conference.
  • Prospect, schedule, and conduct initial discovery meetings with new businesses that would benefit from associating with the school or conference.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to shape partnership ideas between new businesses and the school or conference.
  • Prepare and present PowerPoint proposals to new businesses that effectively communicate partnership opportunities.
  • Draft and coordinate agreements, managing all relevant information in the division-wide database.
  • Fulfill the terms of agreements providing advertising, marketing, and promotional benefits to sponsor businesses across various platforms.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and team members on game days for sponsor activations and entertainment.
  • Capture proof of performance examples and provide fulfillment summaries to current sponsors.
  • Update new business development activities in the CRM system (Salesforce).

Requirements

  • Some experience working in marketing, advertising, sales, or events is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
  • Great interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Institutions).
  • Willingness to engage with new people.
  • Strong listening skills to appreciate the needs of different organizations and suggest relevant partnership ideas.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and energetic self-motivation.
  • Competitive attitude towards challenges.
  • Comfort with being uncomfortable to foster growth.
  • Coachability and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Proficient with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok).
  • Experience with CRM systems.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
