About the position

The Marketing Coordinator at Mt. Hood Community College plays a vital role in supporting the marketing and communications team by visually designing a variety of materials, including publications, flyers, advertisements, and digital content for web and social media. This position involves crafting and editing video content, as well as taking photographs and videos at various events. The coordinator will also be responsible for content creation, which includes gathering, writing, and distributing emails to students and staff, as well as managing social media posts and newsletters. The role requires collaboration with coordinators, designers, photographers, educators, and writers to conceptualize and create original designs for publications, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget. In addition to design responsibilities, the Marketing Coordinator will consult with college employees to understand their marketing needs and provide recommendations for visual assets. The coordinator will edit and revise projects, secure approvals for final print/display, and work closely with the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communication and other stakeholders. The position also involves performing graphic design duties, including the production of advertising and collateral materials, and managing social media content, including monitoring and responding to messages on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The Marketing Coordinator will assist in creating and maintaining HTML email newsletters, coordinate media monitoring, and support other departments with their social media accounts. This role requires a proactive approach to developing creative concepts and executing ideas in collaboration with the marketing team and other internal stakeholders. The position is expected to cover events on campus, which may involve physical activity such as walking and setting up equipment, and may require occasional weekend and evening work as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Design a variety of visual materials including publications, flyers, advertisements, and digital content.
  • Craft and edit video shorts or long-form video assets.
  • Take photos and videos at events for marketing purposes.
  • Gather, write, and send out student and staff emails.
  • Write social media posts and craft newsletters.
  • Create design standards and website page templates.
  • Consult with college employees regarding their marketing needs and develop visual assets accordingly.
  • Edit and revise projects, securing approval for final print/display.
  • Provide input in developing creative concepts and graphic/video content.
  • Perform graphic design duties for advertising, publications, and other collateral.
  • Monitor and respond to incoming messages on the college's social media platforms.
  • Assist other departments in managing their social media accounts and enforce social media guidelines.
  • Create and maintain HTML email newsletters and mailing lists.
  • Coordinate media monitoring and alert stakeholders when necessary.
  • Assist in assigning web design standards and creating web pages as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in graphic design, art, marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of graphic design and/or video creation and editing experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop, Bridge, Premier Pro, After Effects).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
  • Experience preparing print-ready CMYK art files for production.
  • Experience with digital photography and image manipulation.
  • Proficiency with social media tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Buffer).
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting access and diversity.
