About the position

Bismarck State College is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Marketing and Communication Coordinator to support the institution's public affairs initiatives. This full-time position focuses on developing and implementing marketing strategies, ensuring brand consistency, and managing events and projects to enhance student success and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement effective marketing strategies that align with public affairs initiatives.
  • Develop and produce content for various marketing materials, ensuring clarity and consistency with branding.
  • Organize and manage institutional events, including media coverage.
  • Oversee public affairs projects to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns.
  • Organize, edit, and arrange multimedia content for various platforms.
  • Serve as a backup to the Marketing and Design Manager for marketing buys and purchases.
  • Manage the marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective strategies.
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics and maintain marketing databases.
  • Coordinate media requests, including interviews and promotional materials.
  • Lead communication and promotion of events, including drafting press releases.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to promote programs and initiatives.
  • Promote and support brand awareness across all platforms.
  • Oversee workflow and communication of projects through the Public Affairs project tracking system.
  • Monitor expenses and manage budgets, implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Manage billing, invoices, and purchasing cards for the Public Affairs department.
  • Develop and maintain processes for organizing Public Affairs materials.
  • Proofread materials to ensure they meet brand standards.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in communications, marketing, creative writing or related discipline.
  • Three years of experience in an applicable field.
  • Excellent computer software skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail.
  • Task-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with diverse personalities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, creative writing, or marketing.
  • More than two years of directly related experience.
  • Marketing and content development experience.
  • Office or project coordination experience.
  • Experience working in higher education.
