About the position

The Marketing Copywriter at The University of Texas at Tyler is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies and writing copy for various marketing collateral, including print advertisements, digital ads, social media, email campaigns, and more. This role requires a flexible and innovative approach to problem-solving, collaboration with the creative team, and the ability to maintain a cohesive brand voice across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and capable of managing content projects while adhering to deadlines and brand guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Research, write and deliver content and copy for advertising, print collateral, digital and paid social ads, email marketing, website content, brochures, and direct mail.
  • Craft authentic and vibrant copy that tells UT Tyler's story with personality and purpose.
  • Edit and proof work to ensure high editorial standards are met across all content outputs.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to gather input for written content.
  • Manage content projects and communication calendars from conception through execution.
  • Develop and maintain a written 'voice' for the brand, ensuring authenticity to both the institution and the audience.
  • Adhere to editorial style and brand guidelines, voice, and tone of the institution.
  • Stay current with best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in content creation and digital marketing.
  • Evaluate and act on marketing analytics to drive effective marketing content.
  • Proof all content for spelling, grammar, clarity, and rewrite as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, advertising, English, or a closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of writing experience with a creative agency, in-house team, or media company, including experience writing for digital advertising.
  • Experience creating content for marketing campaigns, particularly direct response marketing.
  • Experience with content/customer management and measurement tools, such as Reach, Slate, Google Analytics, or others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education with an understanding of the life cycle of prospective students.
  • Experience with project management software like Monday.com.
