About the position

The Marketing Creative Director at McCarter Theatre Center is a pivotal role responsible for leading the creative brand direction and visual storytelling for the organization. This position requires a visionary leader who can manage a talented in-house team and coordinate freelancers to produce high-quality visual content across various media. The role emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and strategic thinking to enhance ticket sales and brand awareness while fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative vision for all marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with the organization's brand identity.
  • Develop creative strategies that drive ticket sales, engagement, and brand awareness for performances and events.
  • Oversee the development of visual content including posters, brochures, digital ads, and videos.
  • Lead photo and video shoots, collaborating with photographers and designers.
  • Mentor and inspire a creative team of in-house and freelance designers.
  • Maintain an organized calendar of deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Manage the photo database for marketing and institutional needs.
  • Supervise the installation of customer-facing materials to align with brand standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to enhance marketing impact.
  • Participate in efforts to make McCarter an anti-racist theater.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a creative environment focusing on design and production of print and digital media.
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Highly proficient with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Enthusiasm for theatre and live performing arts.
  • Experience with the administration and management of performing arts institutions.
