About the position

Toyota's Marketing Technology and Analytics Department is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Manager of Data Engineering and Architecture. This role is pivotal in leading the development, deployment, and operations of cloud platforms, specifically Google Cloud and AWS, to support the goals of the business and marketing technology teams. The successful candidate will oversee all data pipelines into and out of marketing applications, ensuring that the platforms not only work in harmony with each other but also integrate seamlessly with a broader ecosystem of cloud technologies owned by both Toyota and third-party vendors. Key areas of focus for this position include security, compliance, data movement, operational parity, and the automated deployment of applications and data science models. In this role, you will be responsible for developing a team that meets the current needs of business and technology teams while also future-proofing the technology. This includes looking for innovative solutions and educating various teams on the possibilities available. Given the forward-looking nature of the platform, you will contribute to the larger platform community at Toyota and collaborate with various leaders across Toyota's OneTech to continuously evolve platform technology. This position reports to the Chief Architect and Engineering Lead, and it is essential for enabling Toyota Marketing in various dimensions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, deployment, and operations of cloud platforms (AWS and GCP) to support business and marketing technology goals.
  • Oversee all data pipelines into and out of marketing applications.
  • Ensure integration and operational parity between multiple cloud platforms and third-party technologies.
  • Focus on security, compliance, data movement, and automated deployment of applications and data science models.
  • Develop and manage a team of data engineers and consultants to meet current and future technology needs.
  • Contribute to the larger platform community at Toyota and collaborate with leaders across Toyota's OneTech.

Requirements

  • Experience leading a team that builds data products for downstream business applications.
  • Ability to understand and apply data engineering patterns for data ingestion, processing, and integration.
  • Proficiency in creating relational and non-relational data structures in SQL and non-SQL databases.
  • Experience in decomposing architecture and Epics in a scrum methodology.
  • Ability to lead design and code reviews.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Martech (Adobe Experience platform) and Adtech platforms (Google Marketing Platform).
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Marketing Platform (GMP).
  • 10+ years of experience supporting multiple teams in developing automated and reusable solutions.
  • Experience in leading the development and support of cloud capabilities/technologies.
  • Certification in GCP and/or AWS.
  • Experience in tool evaluation and platform research.
