About the position

As a Marketing Data Scientist I at Nebraska Furniture Mart, you will leverage data mining techniques and statistical analysis to build high-quality predictive systems that support marketing operations, sales, and leadership. This remote position requires collaboration with the marketing team to enhance customer experiences and drive business solutions through data-driven insights.

Responsibilities

  • Verify the integrity of data used for analyzing and engineering data features for building and optimizing machine learning models.
  • Enhance data collection procedures to include relevant information for building predictive models.
  • Identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions by proposing strategies to address business challenges.
  • Utilize predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting, and other business outcomes.
  • Report information using data visualization techniques and perform ad-hoc analysis, presenting results clearly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field required.
  • Excellent understanding of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques and algorithms, including regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, and neural networks.
  • Experience with common data science and statistical toolkits and platforms, including R, Weka, Python, SPSS, and SAS.
  • Strong applied math skills in statistics and linear algebra.
  • Familiarity with operations research and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with professional data visualization and reporting tools, such as Tableau, QlikView, and PowerBI.
  • Proven experience using data visualization tools such as D3.js, GGplot, and Matplotlib.
  • Proficiency in using SQL and understanding of NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, and HBase.
  • Exposure to cloud-based analytical and data engineering services in Azure, AWS, or Cloudera.
  • Excellent applied statistics skills, including distributions, statistical testing, and regression.
  • Strong scripting and programming skills in Python, Powershell, C, C++, Java, and JavaScript.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or early morning hours based on business needs.
