About the position

Legends is seeking a Marketing Director for its Global Merchandise division, based in Indianapolis. This role is pivotal in driving the RFP business development process and establishing strategic, integrated systems that can scale across all accounts. The Marketing Director will serve as a thought leader for the LGM IMT team and its clients, focusing on retail brand marketing, project management, external communications, and marketing campaigns. The position requires the development of strategic marketing and communication materials that effectively showcase the capabilities of the LGM division, ensuring that key clients and partnerships receive pertinent information in a compelling manner. The Marketing Director will own the consumer journey and brand narrative, managing client relationships and the client briefing process for seasonal product storytelling across various channels, including digital platforms, e-commerce, brick-and-mortar stores, and special events. This role involves compiling annual marketing plans, analyzing their effectiveness, and making data-driven recommendations for future merchandising activities. Collaboration with the IMT team, program leads, and merchandise teams is essential to identify key apparel items and collections that enhance the omni-channel and digital e-commerce ecosystem. In partnership with the e-commerce team, the Marketing Director will define the on-site product assortment, guiding retail brand photography, copy direction, and site business plans to drive revenue. Strong communication skills are crucial, as the role requires effective and persuasive verbal and written presentations. The Marketing Director will also monitor competitive programs and analyze consumer marketplace trends, ensuring a deep understanding of current trends within the client's customer base. Additionally, the role requires effective management of merchandising budgets to deliver on plans while staying within budget constraints. Responsibilities

  • Own the RFP business development process and deliver strategic, integrated processes & systems that scale across all accounts.
  • Act as a thought-leader for the LGM IMT team and its clients in retail brand marketing, project management, external communications, and marketing campaigns.
  • Lead the development of LGM business, strategic marketing, communication, and presentation decks to showcase LGM capabilities to key clients and partnerships.
  • Own the consumer journey, brand narrative, and client relationships for seasonal product storytelling across omni-channel experiences.
  • Compile annual marketing plans and analyze their effectiveness, focusing on analytical insights for future merchandising activities.
  • Work in partnership with IMT team, program leads, and merchandise team to identify key apparel items and collections for omni-channel and digital e-commerce.
  • Define the on-site product assortment in partnership with the e-commerce team, guiding retail brand photography and copy direction.
  • Monitor competitive programs and analyze consumer marketplace trends to understand current trends within the client's customer base.
  • Manage merchandising budgets effectively to deliver the plan and stay within budget constraints.
  • Contribute to the general success of Legends Global Merchandising across all facets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, business, or related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of high-level experience in retail brand marketing and/or sports and entertainment marketing.
  • Proven leadership in directing major clients' initiatives in the sports, entertainment, and/or experiential space.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously.
  • B2B & B2C marketing excellence with critical trend awareness and execution.
  • Expertise in identifying opportunities, developing strategies, and negotiating creative solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities with excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • High energy and passionate personality that thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to multi-task and a competitive drive to win.

Nice-to-haves

  • Retail Brand Marketing, Agency, Merchandise and/or sports operational background.
