About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to develop, coordinate, direct, and administer the facility's marketing and public relations programs and services. This role is essential in maintaining and increasing the facility's census while providing the community with relevant information about the facility, its programs, services, and practices. The individual will be responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the facility's public relations and marketing programs and activities. This includes maintaining a current listing of all resident care employee phone numbers and ensuring that public information such as policy manuals, brochures, and information packets accurately describes the services provided by the facility. The position requires the development and maintenance of written policies and procedures that govern the release of information concerning residents, employees, and the facility, in accordance with current Privacy Rules and Regulations. The individual will assist department directors in the development and use of marketing and public relations policies and procedures, fostering a rapport between departments to emphasize the importance of each staff member's role in these programs. Regular reviews of the facility's marketing and public relations policies will be conducted to ensure they remain relevant and effective. Additionally, the role involves the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys, interpreting the facility's policies regarding the release of information to various stakeholders, and organizing internal communications through various channels. The individual will also provide creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs and publications, maintain relationships with families and community leaders, and participate in community service and civic groups to garner support for charitable activities. In times of emergencies, the individual will establish a public relations area to ensure accurate information release in line with established policies. The position also includes responsibilities for planning and conducting in-service training classes related to marketing and public relations programs, creating a warm and positive atmosphere within the facility, and adhering to ergonomics policies to prevent work-related injuries. The individual will prepare a departmental operating budget for approval and serve on various committees as directed by the Administrator, while maintaining confidentiality of all resident care information and reporting any unauthorized disclosures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a current listing of all resident care employee phone numbers.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility's public relations and marketing programs and activities.
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures governing the release of information concerning residents, employees, and the facility.
  • Assist department directors in developing and using marketing and public relations policies and procedures.
  • Review the facility's marketing and public relations policies and procedures at least annually and make necessary changes.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Interpret the facility's policies governing the release of information to various stakeholders.
  • Ensure public information describing the services provided is accurate and fully descriptive.
  • Organize and implement continuing internal communications through various channels.
  • Schedule and participate in departmental meetings concerning marketing and public relations programs.
  • Provide creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs and publications.
  • Maintain an adequate liaison with families, residents, and community and civic leaders.
  • Participate in community service and civic groups to seek support for charitable activities.
  • Contact news media regarding new programs and promotions beneficial to the facility and community.
  • Keep the Administrator informed of noteworthy media accounts that may impact the facility.
  • Establish a public relations area during emergencies to ensure accurate information release.
  • Assist department directors in planning and conducting in-service training classes related to marketing and public relations programs.
  • Create and maintain a warm, personal, and positive environment throughout the facility.
  • Prepare a departmental operating budget for approval by the Administrator.
  • Serve on various committees of the facility as directed by the Administrator.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information and report unauthorized disclosures.
  • Interpret resident rights to residents, families, and staff personnel as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent experience in marketing/public relations in a health care setting (5 years experience may substitute for degree).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products.
