About the position

As a Marketing Director at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, your primary objective is to lead the marketing function for Westfield in the market, developing both short-term and long-term marketing plans that drive sales, traffic, and net operating income (NOI) growth. You will oversee the marketing function, which includes local marketing strategy, interpretation and execution of national marketing programs, budget allocation and management, campaign development and measurement, supporting local public relations efforts, driving digital engagement, and fostering retailer and brand relationships. Additionally, you will lead the local marketing team, ensuring that talent aligns with business needs. Your role will involve building and nurturing relationships with internal and external partners, including retail and local community partners. You will oversee Westfield's marketing, promotion, and advertising efforts to drive sales and enhance brand awareness and return on investment (ROI). Outstanding planning and project management abilities, along with strong leadership and communication skills, are essential. You will develop Westfield's annual Marketing Action Plan and be responsible for its implementation to meet marketing goals and key performance indicators (KPIs), collaborating with the center's marketing team, Corporate Marketing, Shopping Center Manager, and asset team. In this position, you will create and implement marketing plans that encompass all phases of center development, working closely with the corporate marketing team, development, and asset team. You will also partner with the corporate marketing and public relations team to lead annual strategies, which include creative development, media planning, community engagement, public relations, leasing launches, and center openings. Managing the center's annual marketing budget and developing the marketing budget, including tracking and management, will be part of your responsibilities. You will develop and manage local media relations plans in collaboration with the national Communications/PR team, providing local public relations support for marketing campaigns, regional programs, new store openings, and crisis management. Your strategic and financial responsibilities will include determining market priorities and allocating marketing resources to address key issues effectively. You will drive the generation of superior customer insights and translate them into actionable plans and programs. Additionally, you will assist in developing and reviewing the center's business plans and budgets to ensure alignment with center strategies. Understanding market research needs and leading ongoing requirements in consultation with the corporate Analysis & Insights team will be crucial, as will reviewing and interpreting competitor activities for trends and potential applications to Westfield's marketing initiatives. Operationally, you will review marketing strategies to ensure alignment between overall market and individual center approaches, identifying best practices and sharing results nationally. Supporting the Shopping Center Management team with operational duties, including manager on duty responsibilities, will also be part of your role. You will develop strong retailer relations by establishing a thorough understanding of their business and encouraging their participation in marketing programs to promote their business and enhance the overall center marketing plan. Your discerning eye for design will ensure that the property aesthetics and common area marketing activations are on-brand.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of Marketing and/or related experience.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic orientation.
  • Experience in retail or shopping center industry preferred.
  • Strength in leadership, strategy, marketing, and financial management.
  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms.
  • Experience in public relations, media relations, and crisis management preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills and professional representation.
  • Strong analytical capability in understanding marketing/retail trends.
  • Ability to understand and communicate sales performance and traffic results.

Nice-to-haves
