About the position

The Marketing & Events Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies related to events, as well as coordinating various marketing materials. This role involves establishing relationships with local hospitality partners, generating leads, and overseeing promotional activities to enhance the visibility and usage of the Conference Center and the City of Douglasville's offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local hospitality partners.
  • Obtain orders or contracts from non-local customers for the Conference Center.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and suppliers, negotiating to win business for Douglasville.
  • Make presentations and prepare bid packets for organizations.
  • Follow up with leads to hotels regarding group history and current data.
  • Develop itineraries and packages for individual and group travelers.
  • Create presentations for trade shows and large events.
  • Maximize revenue while maintaining existing customer contacts.
  • Generate new leads and set sales goals.
  • Organize promotional materials and assemble information packages for promotions.
  • Plan signature events for the Conference Center each year.
  • Address customer inquiries regarding facilities, room rates, and services.
  • Conduct site inspections and property tours with potential customers.
  • Prepare proposals, contracts, reports, and banquet event orders.
  • Serve as the point of contact for customers and address their questions and concerns.
  • Coordinate with the onsite catering team for upcoming events.
  • Promote the Conference Center at expos, tradeshows, and bridal shows.
  • Perform general office duties to support Conference Center staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of Douglasville's tourism inventory and provide customer service to visitors.
  • Develop and execute social media strategies to increase brand awareness.
  • Create and curate content for social media channels and maintain a posting schedule.
  • Maintain website updates and postings, and manage newsletters for industry partners.
  • Support event planning and preparation, including coordinating reservations and materials distribution.
  • Represent the Douglasville Convention and Visitors Bureau at various events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in a relevant role.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and terminology.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite.
  • Ability to use proper grammar and spelling.
  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
  • Ability to create artwork for promotional materials.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with local community groups and city departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate routine office machines and perform data entry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Familiarity with social media marketing and content creation.
  • Knowledge of tourism marketing strategies.
