About the position

The Marketing Manager-Directories, Rankings & Awards at A&O Shearman is responsible for managing the firm's participation in key legal directories and awards. This role involves developing strategies to enhance the firm's rankings and recognition while ensuring efficient processes and best practices. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders, including business development teams and firm management, to drive submissions and maintain strong relationships with directory editors and researchers.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the directories submission process from end-to-end.
  • Serve as the central point of contact and leading expert on directories, rankings, and awards within the firm.
  • Develop a strategy and calendar to ensure the firm is well represented in directories and awards in priority areas.
  • Maintain firm profiles for all relevant directories and ensure consistency across all channels.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with editors and researchers at legal directories to understand methodology and advocate for the firm.
  • Administer research calendars, submissions, client references, and lawyer interviews in coordination with the Business Development team.
  • Track and analyze submissions to identify areas for improvement in ranking results.
  • Work with Communications and Business Development teams to implement a plan for communicating the Firm's rankings internally and externally.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements with relevant organizations relating to directories.
  • Assist team members with writing, reviewing, coordinating, or editing directory submissions.
  • Assist with other marketing and business development or awards initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years relevant experience at a legal directory or in a law firm environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of directories, rankings, and awards within the legal industry.
  • Strong networking and advocacy skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
