About the position

Under the direction of the Senior Marketing Manager, the Marketing Manager will work closely with practice group leaders, firm attorneys, and other marketing team members to support all business development and marketing activities for the Intellectual Property and Technology practice on a national basis. The primary goal is to drive revenue through new business opportunities and client expansion programs, including strategic business planning, pitches and proposals, events and sponsorships, sales pipeline management, key client initiatives, and business development coaching and training. This position is responsible for working with attorneys in the practice to respond to marketing and business development requests in a manner consistent with the firm's overall strategy. The Marketing Manager will provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to attorneys and staff through effective communication, ensuring a well-informed and highly motivated team effort. This role involves researching strategic market opportunities and successfully leading the cross-selling of existing services, practice groups, and offices, as well as overseeing the initiation of substantial new client opportunities for the firm. The manager will work with the marketing events team to execute and drive ROI for marketing events, manage business sponsorships and activities tied to the practice, and track activities relevant to business development of the practice group. Additionally, the Marketing Manager will respond to all RFPs/RFIs and develop all other proposal/pitch materials in conjunction with Pursuits & Proposals team members and Senior Practice Marketing Team. They will provide sales support and assist attorneys with target opportunities, conduct business and market research, and maintain attorney biographies. The role also includes coordinating business development training sessions at the national level, advising attorneys on business development tactics and tools, and serving as the point of contact for internal and external communications, including media relations. The position requires updating sales pipeline information and supporting deal/case tracking efforts as necessary, along with other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Advise attorneys on business development tactics and tools (e.g., CRM system)
  • Serve as point of contact for internal and external communications, including media relations
  • Update sales pipeline information
  • Support deal/case tracking efforts as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Marketing, Journalism or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 6 years of Marketing/business development support experience, preferably in the professional services industry
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong client service orientation and project management skills
  • Ability to generate immediate credibility with firm attorneys
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
