About the position

The Marketing Communications Manager at McCarthy Building Co. is responsible for leading marketing activities in the Southern Region, focusing on external communications, proposal development, and client relationship management. This role requires collaboration with the regional Marketing and Business Development team to enhance competitive procurement for major construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a team of marketing coordinators, providing workload management, leadership, and mentorship.
  • Works with project teams and public relations firms to create opportunities for brand promotion.
  • Collaborates with the social media team to create a content calendar.
  • Defines positioning strategies for key project leads in conjunction with business development and public relations consultants.
  • Analyzes RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs to establish deliverable matrices and development schedules.
  • Facilitates work sessions to define and implement compelling win strategies, ensuring communication of branding and win themes.
  • Leads proposal kick-off meetings and establishes outlines for proposal deliverables.
  • Quality checks and edits content for compliance, grammar, logic, and readability, managing the process to keep the pursuit team on schedule.
  • Plans and oversees final QC, assembly, and delivery of printed and electronic submittals by deadlines.
  • Works with project directors to establish interview preparation plans and creates presentation materials.

Requirements

  • Four-year business or technical degree.
  • Minimum 6 years of proposal management experience in the construction and/or engineering industry.
  • High-level understanding of the construction and/or engineering industry.
  • Strong project management, writing, proofreading, and editing capabilities.
  • Leadership capacity with a desire to lead a team of marketers.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience supervising direct reports preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe CC (including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), particularly InDesign for proposal layout.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in virtual collaboration tools including SharePoint, FTP sites, and video conferencing.
