About the position

The Project Manager at Adtalem Global Education is a pivotal role that focuses on ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of various projects that align with the organization's business goals and objectives. This position is primarily responsible for managing projects that support both campus and online expansion efforts, while also being flexible enough to assist with other projects as needed. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with project owners, consultants, and third-party vendors to facilitate successful project outcomes. In this role, the Project Manager will analyze project needs and identify the necessary resources to achieve project objectives. They will develop detailed project plans that outline key activities, timelines, and resource requirements, ensuring adherence to a systematic development process. The Project Manager will track and document the completion of work plan activities, initiating efforts to advance the project as necessary. Managing multiple projects simultaneously, they will monitor, measure, and report on progress to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery. The Project Manager will also be responsible for modifying tasks, sequencing, and resourcing as appropriate to maintain project momentum. They will identify and address obstacles, ensuring appropriate resolutions are implemented. Additionally, the Project Manager will manage project teams and related implementation activities, providing input on resource utilization and coordinating staffing changes with managers. Coaching and developing team members to achieve project objectives is also a key responsibility, along with providing feedback to team members as needed. Effective communication is crucial in this role, as the Project Manager will need to communicate project progress and issues to clients, particularly regarding changes to project resources, scheduling, scope, and delivery. They will work closely with various groups to ensure smooth implementation and will complete other duties as assigned, complying with all organizational policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes project needs and identifies resources required.
  • Develops detailed project plans, which include key activities, timelines and resource requirements needed to achieve project objectives while adhering to an appropriate systematic development process.
  • Tracks and documents completion of work plan activities and initiates efforts to advance the project as needed.
  • Manages multiple projects according to plan while monitoring, measuring and reporting on progress to ensure project is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Modifies tasks, sequencing, and resourcing as appropriate to maintain progress.
  • Identifies and addresses obstacles ensuring appropriate resolution.
  • Manages project teams and related implementation activities according to project plans.
  • Provides input into how to use resources more effectively and coordinates/negotiates any staffing changes with managers.
  • Balances use of vendor and internal resources.
  • Coaches and develops team members in support of achieving the project objectives.
  • Provides feedback to the project team members as appropriate.
  • Communicates project progress and issues to clients, especially related to the impact of changes to project resources, scheduling scope and delivery.
  • Works closely with groups involved to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree required.
  • Master's degree in Business or Project Management, preferred.
  • 5 years of full lifecycle project management experience including knowledge of PMBOK or other equivalent methodology.
  • Experience in an academic enterprise, preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and determine effective business and alternative solutions.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to advance projects while managing multiple initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and work in a fast paced environment with many initiatives.
  • Ability to manage a variety of business and vendor resources.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Proficient with project management practices and tools.
  • Capability to influence and instill credibility in sponsors, peers and subordinates by meeting project milestones, deadlines and budget.
