About the position

The Marketing/Public Relations and Fund Development Manager at OSL Serves plays a crucial role in shaping the organization's public image and driving its fundraising efforts. This position is responsible for the creation and execution of a comprehensive marketing, public relations, and fund development strategy that aligns with the mission and goals of OSL Serves. The ideal candidate will be a highly qualified, motivated, and enthusiastic individual who can manage all aspects of marketing and public relations at the corporate level while supporting individual platform functions on a day-to-day basis. In this role, you will be tasked with communicating key messages and promoting a positive image of OSL Serves. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include writing press releases, liaising with the press, and coordinating messaging across various platforms, including the website, social media, and print materials. You will also be responsible for monitoring public and media opinions about OSL, managing social media posts, and developing good working relationships with media representatives. Additionally, you will lead and coordinate fund development efforts, which include grants, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events, individual gifts, and legacy gifts. This position requires a creative professional with strong writing and communication skills, a keen eye for aesthetics, and the ability to think independently and creatively. You will also be responsible for training employees on handling media inquiries and press interviews, ensuring that all marketing materials reflect OSL's standards and expectations, and planning multi-pronged efforts to advance the organization's mission and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the public and media's opinion of OSL
  • Write and edit press releases, leaflets, brochures, speeches, newsletters, websites, and social media content
  • Utilize all forms of media to build, maintain, and manage the portrayal of OSL
  • Represent OSL at events
  • Act as a spokesperson for OSL's brand
  • Train employees on how to handle media inquiries and press interviews
  • Develop good working relationships with the media and liaise with the press on potential news stories
  • Write and edit in-house magazines, case studies, and annual reports
  • Manage and update OSL's social media posts
  • Devise and coordinate photo opportunities
  • Manage, arrange, and oversee events
  • Monitor publicity and press coverage
  • Coordinate paid and unpaid advertising
  • Manage all marketing materials, website updates, and social media presence
  • Responsible for corporate messaging development and distribution
  • Ensure all deliverables are in line with OSL standards before publication
  • Plan a multi-pronged effort to advance OSL's mission, impact, and longevity
  • Lead and coordinate fund development efforts with the development team
  • Schedule meetings, tours, and presentations for CEO and corporate funders
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a professional level of communication and language skills; verbal, written, and listening

  • Advanced design knowledge/experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail necessary to prioritize multiple initiatives and projects
  • Presentation skills and ability to prioritize and plan effectively
  • Digital media skills, such as graphic design, video editing, and blog administration
  • Social media management experience
  • Ability to create and assemble attractive marketing materials
  • Working knowledge of design and implementation software necessary for the job function (Word, PDF, Constant Contact, Google Analytics, LinkedIn, Facebook, Adobe InDesign platform or Adobe CC, etc.)
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Willingness to travel
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed
