About the position

The Marketing, Recruitment, and Communications Specialist at Oklahoma State University (OSU) plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and outreach of the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering. This position focuses on creating engaging content for various digital platforms and print materials, supporting the department's strategic marketing and communications plan. The specialist will be responsible for storytelling that makes complex content relatable to diverse audiences, including students, alumni, stakeholders, and donors. The role also involves managing social media accounts, developing recruitment materials, and assisting with daily office operations.

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging content for digital platforms and print materials.
  • Support the department's strategic marketing and communications plan.
  • Write news stories, features, announcements, and advertising copy.
  • Manage and populate the department's social media calendar.
  • Monitor social media accounts and engage with audiences.
  • Develop and maintain recruitment and marketing materials for prospective students.
  • Assist with daily office operations, including answering phones and responding to emails.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Ag Communications, Strategic Communications, Marketing, or a closely related field.
  • 3 years of working experience or internship in communications.
  • Experience with editing, proofreading, photography, videography, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel.
  • Demonstrated experience in communications, including writing, editing, social media, video, web, and content creation.
  • Excellent writing, verbal communication, and technical skills.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Ag Communications, Strategic Communications, Marketing, or a closely related field (preferred).
  • 5 years of working experience with media, video, photography, graphic design, and advertising.
  • Experience in building communication flows and managing print projects.
  • Knowledge of Associated Press style writing and technical writing.
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and content management systems.
