About the position

The Marketing & Special Events Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the marketing efforts of the department, assisting in the planning and execution of special events, and providing clerical and customer service support. This part-time position involves developing marketing strategies, managing social media engagement, and ensuring effective communication with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing marketing strategies, including social media, to promote events, activities, and programs.
  • Prepare and disseminate promotional materials and maintain the City's website.
  • Create social media pages, posts, and develop strategies to improve engagement across channels.
  • Provide customer service at the front desk, greet visitors, and answer phones to respond to inquiries and concerns.
  • Assist with program registration and resolve complaints effectively.
  • Collect and process payments, prepare deposits, and maintain accurate records.
  • Compose, edit, and type correspondences, reports, and other documents.
  • Maintain filing systems, oversee record retention files, and manage office supplies.
  • Receive, open, and distribute mail and monitor expenditures, processing invoices and purchase orders.
  • Maintain staff calendars, time sheets, and leave records.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of special events and provide support for division/department staff as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 3 years of previous relevant work experience is required.
