About the position

Mercer University's Office of Enrollment Management is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Marketing Specialist, Digital Services to join our Marketing and Communications team on the Atlanta, Georgia campus. This position is ideal for individuals who have a passion for digital marketing and a knack for understanding online audiences. The Marketing Specialist will play a key role in the implementation of digital marketing strategies that generate leads and drive engagement for a variety of prospective student audiences and University stakeholders. Under the direct supervision of the Digital Marketing Strategist, the Specialist will utilize the latest tools and platforms to recommend and implement tactics that further marketing and enrollment goals. The role involves conducting keyword research, writing and maintaining search engine-optimized webpage content, advertising campaign content, and landing page content. The Specialist will monitor and track SEO performance and campaign metrics, analyzing and interpreting organic and paid website performance data. Additionally, this position supports the development and management of digital content, coordinating photo/video shoots, and organizing and managing photo/video assets. The Specialist must possess excellent grammar, proofreading, writing, and analytical skills, along with impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills. Critical and creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, and evaluation skills are essential for success in this position. The Marketing Specialist will implement and manage organic and paid digital marketing strategies, conduct keyword research to improve the visibility of University websites, and craft compelling on-page content to engage prospective student audiences. The role also includes analyzing website performance, user behavior, and SEO performance across platforms to inform strategic decisions and generate reports. The Specialist will leverage their understanding of the higher education landscape to generate tailored content that resonates with diverse student populations, supporting the creation of engaging digital content and managing websites and webpages as assigned. Project management skills are crucial, as the Specialist will manage projects or parts of larger projects, ensuring that milestones and deadlines are met while maintaining smooth communication with team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage organic and paid digital marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Conduct keyword research to identify opportunities for improving website visibility.
  • Develop and maintain a keyword mapping system to track targeted keywords.
  • Craft unique, compelling, and informative on-page content for prospective student audiences.
  • Analyze website structure and user behavior to recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and generate SEO-optimized content.
  • Utilize technical SEO audit tools to identify and resolve website issues.
  • Manage paid campaigns on various digital channels and research campaign best practices.
  • Analyze website performance, user behavior, and SEO performance to inform strategic decisions.
  • Create reports to provide insights to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support the creation of engaging digital content and coordinate photo/video shoots.
  • Manage projects or parts of larger projects, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Maintain data and records related to content production and project timelines.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Technical Communication, Public Relations, English, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • One year of related experience, including working with paid digital advertising campaigns.
  • Experience writing content with a marketing voice for various audiences adhering to writing styles/rules (such as AP style).
  • Experience conducting keyword research for diverse audiences and writing SEO-optimized content.
  • Ability to identify and report on key digital marketing and website performance metrics.
  • Experience coordinating and collaborating with writers, photographers, etc., to develop content and deliverables.
  • Ability to manage multiple details and deadlines simultaneously with accuracy and urgency.
