About the position

The Marketplace Cafe Attendant at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa plays a crucial role in ensuring quality service to all guests while preparing drinks and food orders. This position requires maintaining a spotless appearance for tables and the restaurant at all times, adhering to the hotel's rules, regulations, uniform codes, and standards. The attendant is expected to continuously work towards creating a smoothly functioning environment, contributing to the overall guest experience in this dynamic and exciting work setting. In this role, the attendant will utilize general knowledge of cash handling and Point of Sale systems to manage transactions effectively. They will maintain high housekeeping standards related to both retail merchandising and the cleanliness of food and beverage areas. The attendant will also be responsible for accurately checking in retail merchandise and restocking the café counter based on supply and demand. Good communication skills are essential, as the attendant will interact directly with customers, both face-to-face and over the phone, ensuring a courteous and professional demeanor at all times. Flexibility in scheduling is important, as the attendant must be available to work during holidays, weekends, mornings, and evenings. Understanding the basic operation of kitchen equipment related to the café counter is also necessary. Responsibilities include bussing tables according to established standards, breaking down bus stations at the end of shifts, and assisting baristas to ensure quality service. The attendant will also be tasked with clearing tables after guests have finished their meals, unless otherwise requested by the guests.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality service to all guests and prepare guest drinks and food orders.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards for retail merchandising and café cleanliness.
  • Check in retail merchandise accurately and restock café counter as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with customers face-to-face and over the phone.
  • Work flexible hours including weekends and holidays, mornings and evenings.
  • Understand the basic operation of kitchen equipment related to the café counter.
  • Buss tables and follow table setting standards.
  • Break down bus stations at the end of shifts, cleaning all work areas and materials used.
  • Clear each course after guests have finished eating, unless requested otherwise.
  • Assist baristas to ensure quality service.

Requirements

  • Previous barista experience is preferred.
  • San Diego County Food Handlers card and TIPS certification required prior to employment.
  • Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment preferred.
  • Ability to communicate courteously and professionally is required.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl regularly.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally push/pull up to 250 lbs.
