About the position

The Marriage & Family Therapist Program Manager serves as the Vet Center Director (VCD) within the Readjustment Counseling Service (RCS) of the Department of Veterans Affairs. This role is responsible for overseeing the professional and administrative supervision of readjustment counseling services provided to eligible veterans and their families. The VCD ensures the effective coordination of outreach, referrals, and follow-up care, while also managing the fiscal and operational obligations of the Vet Center. The position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and direct counseling services to support veterans' reintegration into civilian life.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and administrative supervision of readjustment counseling services.
  • Oversee outreach, referrals, and follow-up care coordination for eligible individuals.
  • Manage fiscal, contractual, and operational obligations of the Vet Center.
  • Lead coordination and briefing during meetings with Congressional representatives and their staff.
  • Plan, establish, and implement Vet Center policies and procedures.
  • Develop staff goals and objectives, and monitor the work of all Vet Center staff.
  • Provide direct readjustment counseling services, both face-to-face and virtually.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to enhance client care coordination.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Hold a master's or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from an accredited program.
  • Possess a full, current, and unrestricted MFT license to practice independently in the state.
  • At least one year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.
  • Five years of post-licensed clinical experience in family systems theory/therapy.
  • AAMFT approved Supervisor credential.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with combat veterans in family counseling services.
  • Experience with veterans who experienced sexual trauma while in the military.
  • Experience conducting psycho-social assessments and providing psychotherapy for trauma-related conditions.
