About the position

Marvel is seeking a Junior Landscape Architectural Designer for our New York and Richmond, VA offices. The candidate will work closely with a Licensed Landscape Architect and the Landscape Architecture team to research, design, and implement a variety of project types, including public parks, plazas, streetscapes, waterfront esplanades, and multi-family amenity spaces, among others. The ideal Designer will have an interest in solving complex design challenges, possess good graphic skills, and demonstrate an overall interest in detailed site design exploration and storytelling. In this role, the Junior Landscape Architectural Designer will be responsible for preparing landscape architectural plans, physical models, and 2D and 3D drawings and models using computer software to illustrate project design concepts. The position requires a strong proficiency in software tools such as AutoCad, Rhino, Lumion, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Cloud programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and writing skills, strong organization and time management habits, and the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively within a design team. The successful candidate will also need to visually express complex ideas and solve problems graphically, showcasing their knowledge in site planning, grading, and planting design. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Landscape Architecture from an accredited school is required.
  • 0-3 years of experience working in a Landscape Architectural or Architectural design office.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCad, Rhino, Lumion, Enscape, and Adobe CC programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Strong organization and time management habits.
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to visually express complex ideas and solve problems graphically.
  • Knowledge in site planning, grading, and planting design.
  • Experience working well within a design team.
