Responsibilities

  • Mix and apply base coat plaster over lathe or other surfaces.
  • Mix and apply finish coat over plastered surfaces.
  • Lay bricks and blocks as required.
  • Operate sand blast machine to clean walls and surfaces.
  • Mix and apply glues, cements, and grouts.
  • Drive motor vehicle as needed for job tasks.
  • Prepare cement floors, sidewalks, stairs, and curbs.
  • Operate power hammers and power trowels.
  • Use core drills, jackhammers, and diamond saws for concrete removal and installation.
  • Apply non-skid surfaces and safety strips.
  • Estimate time and materials for jobs.
  • Pour concrete for floors, walls, and foundations.
  • Repair ceramic tile and grout as needed.
  • May lead or instruct helpers as required.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a mason/plasterer or full journey status in a union.
  • Four years of applicable work experience may substitute for apprenticeship.
  • Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.
