About the position

The Mass Tort Paralegal at Chaffin Luhana LLP will play a crucial role in managing mass tort cases and ensuring that all deadlines for statutes of limitations (SOLs) and other filings are met under the supervision of attorneys. This position requires a proactive approach to client management and case organization, as the paralegal will be responsible for maintaining effective communication with clients and providing timely updates on their legal cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in personal injury law and will be adept at handling the complexities of mass tort litigation. In this role, the paralegal will be tasked with ordering, reviewing, and summarizing medical records to prepare factual responses to discovery requests. Regular client interviews will be conducted via phone, and the paralegal will be expected to document all events and communications meticulously. The position also involves reviewing and evaluating cases to prepare them for attorney review and filing, as well as assisting Intake Specialists with managing the intake system. The paralegal will manage the workflow of cases within the firm's electronic case management system, draft and send correspondence, and prepare pleadings including complaints and discovery responses. The Mass Tort Paralegal will also provide general assistance to attorneys and senior paralegals, ensuring that all invoices are submitted timely and in accordance with firm policy. Responsibilities

  • Managing mass tort cases and client relationships.
  • Ordering, reviewing and summarizing medical records for preparing factual responses to discovery.
  • Regularly interviewing clients by phone and timely updating them on their legal cases.
  • Reviewing and evaluating cases to prepare for attorney review and filing.
  • Assisting Intake Specialists with managing the intake system.
  • Managing the workflow of cases in the electronic case management system.
  • Drafting and sending correspondence.
  • Drafting pleadings including complaints, discovery responses, and other pleadings.
  • Offering general assistance to attorneys and senior paralegals.
  • Properly and constantly documenting all events and communications.
  • Submitting invoices timely and consistent with firm policy.

Requirements

  • Paralegal certificate or bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of mass tort or personal injury paralegal experience.
  • Caring and compassionate attitude with clients.

  • Experience with drafting and filing complaints and other pleadings.
