About the position

Singleton Schreiber, LLP is seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented paralegal to join our Mass Torts team. This position is fast-paced and supports a team of attorneys doing regular litigation in state and federal courts. The role involves collaboration with other paralegals and case assistants, ensuring that all aspects of case management are handled efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are critical to the success of the litigation process, including managing electronic information, document management, and document review. This includes bates-stamping, scanning, coding, and searching in complex litigation. The paralegal will also be tasked with creating privilege logs, preparing trial exhibits, and uploading and updating client information into a case management database. In addition to these responsibilities, the paralegal will communicate regularly with clients, review and organize client documents, and be responsible for court filings. This includes propounding and responding to discovery, noticing depositions, and ensuring compliance with the rules of civil procedure in both state and federal courts. The paralegal will also be expected to identify, track, and manage case-related deadlines using an electronic calendaring system. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of litigation processes and be familiar with E-Discovery and various law programs. Responsibilities

  • Communicating regularly with clients.
  • Reviewing and organizing clients' documents.
  • Responsible for court filings, document management and review, propounding and responding to discovery, noticing depositions, and similar tasks.
  • Management of electronic information, document management, and document review including bates-stamping, scanning, coding, and searching in complex litigation.
  • Creation of privilege logs.
  • Preparing trial exhibits.
  • Uploading and updating client information into a case management database.
  • Drafting legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings.
  • Staying abreast of rules of civil procedure in both state and federal courts, including CM/ECF filing/Pacer and arranging for service of pleadings and subpoenas.
  • Identifying, tracking, and managing case-related deadlines in an electronic calendaring system.

Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a paralegal certificate or meet the Bus. & Prof. Code § 6450 requirements.
  • 3+ years of experience as a paralegal.
  • 3+ years of experience in Mass Torts and Civil Litigation.
  • Experience in case management software programs.
  • Proficient in Adobe, Excel, Microsoft Office, Outlook.
  • Familiar with E-Discovery and law programs such as Sharefile, PACER, CaseAnywhere, Lexis, Smart Advocate, Everlaw, FileVine, OneLegal.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiar with working up cases from pre-litigation to post-trial motions.
