About the position

As a Massage Therapist at The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional massage services to our guests, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout their experience. Your primary responsibilities will include delivering various massage techniques and body treatments, such as body scrubs, wraps, and hydrotherapy, tailored to meet the individual needs of each guest. You will assess guest needs and inquire about any contraindications, such as allergies or medical conditions, before beginning any treatment. Staying current with the latest techniques and modalities in the field is essential to provide the best service possible. In addition to performing massages, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized treatment environment. This includes arranging your workstation, treatment room, and drapes, as well as cleaning and sterilizing tools and equipment. You will also monitor the time schedule throughout the day to ensure that all guests receive their treatments promptly. Handling any inappropriate guest behavior according to Marriott International's standard operating procedures is crucial, as is reporting any accidents or unsafe conditions to your manager. Your role will also involve promoting and selling spa and salon services, including retail offerings related to the Spa. Building positive relationships with guests and colleagues is key, as you will be expected to welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate their needs, and express genuine appreciation for their patronage. You will need to maintain a professional appearance and adhere to all company policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and protecting company assets. This position requires physical stamina, as you will be standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and may need to lift or manipulate objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide massage services to guests using props and/or products.
  • Provide body treatments to guests using body scrubs, wraps, and/or hydrotherapy.
  • Assess guest needs and inquire about contraindications before beginning service.
  • Keep up to date with current techniques and modalities related to massage therapy.
  • Escort guests to and from treatment rooms.
  • Arrange workstation, treatment room, and/or drapes.
  • Frequently check with guests to promote comfort, safety, and security throughout service.
  • Promote and sell spa/salon services including retail offerings related to the Spa.
  • Clean, maintain, and sterilize tools and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstation and/or treatment room throughout shift.
  • Dispose of trash and dirty linens, and secure supplies and equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Monitor and stick to time schedule throughout the day.
  • Handle inappropriate guest behavior according to standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain current skills and licensure in service area as per regional requirements.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests' service needs.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a massage therapist as per regional requirements.
  • Experience in providing various massage techniques and body treatments.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with guests and team members.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards in a spa setting.
  • Ability to handle inappropriate guest behavior professionally.
