About the position

The position involves performing assessments of client status and formulating massage treatment plans in accordance with the client's goals and massage practice standards. The therapist ensures that assessments reflect a synthesis of gathered data into an appropriate plan of care and recognizes when a client is unable to attain their goals, consulting with appropriate personnel as needed. The role requires identifying contraindications to massage and taking recommended precautions, completing all required documentation within the same business day of the client's visit, and performing massage therapy utilizing appropriate methods according to licensure guidelines and professional practice. The therapist tailors education to meet the age-specific and individualized needs of clients and actively participates in program development and promotional materials for community education. The position also involves preparing the treatment area, maintaining sanitation and hygiene standards, and respecting client confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assessment of client status and formulates a massage treatment plan.
  • Identifies contraindications to massage and takes recommended precautions.
  • Completes all required documentation within the same business day of the client's visit.
  • Performs massage therapy utilizing appropriate methods according to licensure guidelines.
  • Tailors education to meet the age-specific and individualized needs of the client.
  • Prepares treatment area before patient arrival and maintains sanitation standards.
  • Acknowledges the confidential nature of the professional relationship with clients.
  • Assists with general cleaning and clerical duties when assigned to an outside clinic.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.

Requirements

  • Massage Therapist license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Massage Therapy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with oncology massage or in healthcare preferred, but not required.
