About the position

The Master Craftsperson Interior Installation position at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in St. Louis is a critical role focused on the technical expertise required for in-service aircraft interiors. This position is specifically for the Service Center Interior, where the individual will leverage their extensive knowledge of Gulfstream aircraft interiors and related processes. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in aircraft interior work, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the necessary standards and procedures. The role requires effective communication and collaboration across various departments to meet organizational objectives while adhering to safety and quality standards. The Master Craftsperson will function independently in a team-oriented environment and may take on a leadership role as needed. In this position, the individual will perform a variety of technical functions, including the correct methods of in-service installations, repairs, modifications, and refurbishments. Troubleshooting is a key responsibility, as the Master Craftsperson will need to identify problem areas on in-service aircraft, determine the causes, and implement preventative actions to enhance efficiency and product quality. The role also involves interaction with Engineering, Product Support Engineering, and Quality Control to resolve issues and implement effective solutions. Additionally, the Master Craftsperson will be responsible for organizing and administering the Employee Skills Development Program, identifying training requirements, and ensuring that technicians are well-versed in proper procedures and techniques. The position requires maintaining current knowledge of industry standards and ensuring compliance with Gulfstream Repair Station procedures and FAA Airworthiness Standards. The Master Craftsperson will also support Lean activities and assist in the development and implementation of related initiatives, ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical functions such as correct methods of in-service installations, repairs/mods, and refurbishments.
  • Troubleshoot any problem areas on in-service aircraft to determine cause and pursue preventative actions with proper liaison.
  • Assist in problem solving to establish or correct planning methods for in-service aircraft refurbishments and installations efficiently.
  • Interact with Engineering, Product Support Engineering and Quality Control to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
  • Organize, develop and administer the Employee Skills Development Program with assistance from the Training Department.
  • Identify and develop training requirements for tooling, test equipment and other areas.
  • Plan, schedule and complete tasks to meet service/delivery schedules.
  • Assist management with supervision and instruction of technicians in proper procedures and techniques.
  • Assist with performance appraisal of subordinates and assess their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, vendor information and all other procedures related to product support installations, repairs, and refurbishments.
  • Review work to ensure compliance with Gulfstream Repair Station procedures and FAA Airworthiness Standards.
  • Support Lean activities and comply with standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • FAA A&P license or ability to obtain a repairman certificate within 30 days of start date.
  • Minimum 10 years extensive experience in production/manufacturing/service center.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing and/or repair station procedures and specifications.
  • Established track record of troubleshooting manufacturing or installation processes.
  • Proficient knowledge of all applicable machinery and processes necessary to perform the job.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing or service center environment.
