About the position

The Master Data Governance and Maintenance Manager is a critical role within Messer, responsible for driving the business strategy through the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of high-quality, reliable master data. This position is pivotal in establishing a culture of trust in master data, which is essential for facilitating seamless business transactions, informed decision-making, and operational excellence. The individual in this role will develop and implement a strategic vision for master data governance, ensuring that data is consistently reliable and meets high standards of quality. In this role, the manager will oversee the creation and maintenance of master data, ensuring it aligns with the company's business objectives and complies with relevant regulations and standards. The position requires the establishment and management of data governance frameworks and a Data Council to ensure data integrity and compliance across the organization. The Master Data Governance and Maintenance Manager will also be responsible for strategically managing and optimizing business processes related to data governance, supporting continuous improvement and efficiency. Leadership is a key component of this role, as the manager will lead and manage data governance activities, providing direction and support to teams to enhance data quality and protection. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to promote data-driven decision-making and support the organization's strategic goals. The manager will also ensure the protection of sensitive data and information assets, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for master data governance.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of master data to ensure high standards of quality, consistency, and reliability.
  • Establish, manage, and lead data governance frameworks and Data Council to align with business objectives.
  • Strategically manage and optimize business processes related to data governance for continuous improvement.
  • Lead and manage data governance activities, providing direction and support to teams.
  • Ensure the protection of sensitive data and information assets, maintaining compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or an IT-related field.
  • Master's degree in computer science or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years in business process management and/or data governance.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in leading strategic process improvement and data governance initiatives.
  • Experience with process management tools (e.g., BPM, Six Sigma) and data governance frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of data quality management, data protection, and compliance.
  • Strong leadership abilities to guide and inspire teams.
  • Strategic thinker with expertise in process optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to foster a culture of data excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with a strategic vision for data governance.
  • Proficiency in process mapping, data governance software tools, and data analytics.
  • Strong project management skills to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously.
