About the position

The Master Electrician at Mountainland Technical College is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and components in industrial equipment and machines. This role requires strict adherence to electrical manuals, codes, and diagrams, utilizing both hand and power tools, as well as test and electrical equipment. The Master Electrician will work primarily in Lehi, UT, and is expected to maintain a collaborative and positive work culture while ensuring safety and compliance in all electrical duties. Key responsibilities include installing and maintaining electrical components such as power supply, conduit, wiring, controls, relays, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), solar arrays, distribution networks, breakers, switches, and motor contactors. The electrician will troubleshoot and replace faulty electrical elements, including motors, relays, and switches, and will also diagnose and correct malfunctioning electronic units. Additionally, the role involves managing contractors for electrical duties and organizing safe maintenance principles to regulate and schedule breakdowns effectively. The position requires a valid driver’s license issued by the state of Utah and the ability to obtain forklift driver certification during employment. The Master Electrician must possess a basic working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems, be capable of reading technical manuals and drawings, and have a solid understanding of mechanical operations and repair methods. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the electrician will collaborate with a team and interact with customers and employees. The role also demands strong scheduling and time management abilities, problem-solving skills, and basic computer proficiency for accessing maintenance management systems and maintaining logs.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain all electrical components, power supply, conduit and wiring, controls, relays, UPS, solar array, distribution network, breakers, switches and motor contactors.
  • Troubleshoot and perform replacement on diagnosed faulty electrical elements of machines including motors, relays, and switches.
  • Carry out diagnosis and correct or replace malfunctioning electronic units.
  • Diagnose and ensure replacement of pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic components of equipment and machines which are faulty.
  • Manage contractors' roles for electrical duties.
  • Organize safe maintenance principles for regulating and scheduling breakdowns.

Requirements

  • Current Master Electrician License
  • Valid driver license issued by the state of Utah
  • Ability to operate light trucks, tractors, and stationary equipment
  • Capable of working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems
  • Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings
  • Knowledge of mechanical operations and methods of repairing equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional scheduling and time management skills
  • Basic use of computers to access CMMS, maintain logs and inventories, respond to service requests, and use email
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project Manager and Google
  • Knowledge of basic workplace safety procedures
