About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for the district. Under general supervision, the individual will be responsible for ensuring the safe condition and operation of all electrical systems and fixtures within the Educational Service Center (ESC) facilities. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity and functionality of electrical systems, which are essential for the daily operations of the district. The technician will work on various electrical tasks, including troubleshooting issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with current electrical codes and ordinances. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential problems and implementing effective solutions to ensure the safety and efficiency of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair electrical systems, services, and equipment for the district.
  • Install new electrical systems and fixtures as needed.
  • Ensure the safe operation of all electrical systems in ESC facilities.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical problems in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to prevent failures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents related to electrical systems.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks effectively.
  • Utilize hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Meet established deadlines for maintenance and repair tasks.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) master electrician license.
  • Clear and valid Texas driver's license.
  • Four years of experience in the electrical field.
  • Proficient in Spanish and English speaking, reading, and writing skills.
  • Familiarity with facility operations procedures.
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring, and operating principles of motors.
  • Understanding of current electrical codes and ordinances.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems effectively.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a school or educational environment.
  • Additional certifications related to electrical work.
