About the position

The Master Mechanic Craftsperson position at Tulsa Public Schools is a critical role responsible for performing mechanical work on school buses and other district vehicles. This position requires a high level of expertise in the mechanical repair of various types of vehicles, including diesel, gasoline, and alternative fuel-powered trucks and automobiles. The Master Mechanic will be expected to ensure that all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety and performance, contributing to the overall mission of the district to inspire and prepare every student for success. In this role, the Master Mechanic will work closely with other maintenance staff and may be required to work varied shifts or overtime as needed. The successful candidate will be expected to possess advanced knowledge in diverse fleet maintenance and repair, demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on school buses and other district vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards during all repair work.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Train and mentor less experienced maintenance staff as needed.
  • Work varied shifts and overtime when requested to meet operational needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Eight (8) years' experience in the mechanical repair of diesel, gasoline, alternative fuel powered trucks, school buses, and automobiles.
  • Advanced knowledge in diverse fleet maintenance and repair.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a CDL Class A combination with passenger endorsement.
  • Obtain a State of Oklahoma School Bus Driving Certificate.
  • Obtain a State of Oklahoma Alternative Fuels CNG Technician Certificate.
  • Obtain ASE School Bus Technician Certification.
  • Basic tools required to perform duties.
  • Able and willing to learn Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite.

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
